POWER UP THE UK FROM SOUTH WALES DINNER

By | September 13th, 2018|Categories: Events, News, People|

Cardiff City Hall, Sept 13th, 2018. THE VENUE Cardiff City Hall looks more like the Tuileries Palace in Paris than a City Hall. The entrance is relatively modest but opens into a marbled hall that could find itself at home in Buckingham Palace. There were over 60 attendees, the largest for a dinner so far, putting some pressure on the facilities. The tight space however ensured we enjoyed our usual collegiate atmosphere. Aim of evening The aim was: 1) To promote the Compound Semiconductor Cluster in South Wales; 2) To link other centres [...]

By | September 28th, 2016|Categories: Events, News, Technology|

We held our first northern meeting of the Society in Manchester on September 28th in the magnificent setting of the Mayor’s Parlour, designed by Alfred Waterhouse who also designed the Natural History Museum and the National Liberal Club (where I would personally love to hold a meeting of the Bessemer Society to enjoy its magnificent architectural self-confidence). We chose Manchester to extend the Bessemer Society’s reach northward so it does not become just another ‘network’ serving the Golden Triangle of London, Cambridge and Oxford; and to build links with local institutions and agencies. [...]
